Moving a trading company's server rack across Abu Dhabi with minimal downtime.

A general trading company in Abu Dhabi was relocating from a site in an industrial area to a new office.

Its core IT sat in a 48U server rack and a wall-mounted rack. It all had to be moved and back online at the new site with as little downtime as possible.

What we delivered

At the old site Missan dismantled and secured the 48U rack (two 48-port switches, a pair of Fortinet firewalls, a blade server, the internet provider's equipment, an Eaton UPS with its controller, a Cisco call manager and voice gateway, and the copper and fibre patch panels) and the wall-mounted rack. At the new office we:

• Rebuilt a right-sized rack for the new site
• Reinstalled and reconfigured the 48-port switch and both Fortinet firewalls
• Reinstalled the print server, patch panel and the provider's fibre terminal
• Checked every component was connected and powered, then ran network connectivity and performance tests

The outcome

The relocation was tested and handed over at the new site, with the completion report issued in March 2025.
