Moving off VMware
How a VMware to Sangfor HCI migration runs.
A Sangfor project often starts with VMware. Either the Broadcom renewal quote arrived and was several times the old figure, or an ageing host has failed and nobody wants to buy another VMware licence for it.
Sangfor HCI imports VMware virtual machines with its own migration tool, so most servers move without being rebuilt. The work is in the planning: knowing which VMs depend on each other, which can be down for an hour on a Saturday and which cannot.
- Inventory every VM, its size, its operating system and what depends on it.
- Size the Sangfor cluster with headroom, and agree whether it sits on site or on our private cloud.
- Move a low-risk VM first and check it with your team before touching production.
- Move the rest in agreed windows, with the VMware copy kept switched off until each VM has run cleanly.
- Set up backup and disaster recovery on the new platform before the old host is retired.
When a host fails
What we did for a trader whose only VMware host crashed.
A UAE building-materials trader lost its only virtualisation host. We proposed rebuilding on Sangfor HCI instead of repairing the old platform, arranged the licence through the distributor and supplied two new SSDs for the HCI system disk.
The rebuild was done the day after the issue was raised, with our engineer working alongside the client’s on-site contact over a live remote call. The SSDs were configured as a RAID 1 mirror. The old disk array was not wiped, because the client was not yet sure every backup was safe, so it was kept as a separate volume until that could be confirmed.

For a group of industrial and trading businesses with several sites, we replaced a mix of ageing firewalls with one standard Sangfor next-generation firewall estate, so every site runs the same rules and is managed the same way.
For a UAE manufacturer, a Sangfor security stack now governs the network edge in front of the production systems, which themselves run on a Sangfor HCI cluster. Backups go to FortGrid, so the security, hosting and recovery layers are run by one team.

What is Sangfor HCI?
Hyperconverged infrastructure: compute, storage and virtualisation in one software stack running on standard servers. Instead of separate hosts, a SAN and a hypervisor licence, you run a cluster of nodes and grow by adding nodes.
Can you move us from VMware to Sangfor HCI?
Yes. We inventory your virtual machines, plan the order of the move around downtime windows and test each VM on Sangfor before cutover. For a UAE building-materials trader whose VMware host crashed, we rebuilt the host on Sangfor HCI the day after the issue was raised and kept the old disk array untouched.
Do you handle Sangfor licence renewals?
Yes. We collect the cluster and node identifiers Sangfor needs, arrange temporary licences if the renewal will run past expiry, and apply the renewed licence. For a UAE paper manufacturer we renewed two HCI clusters with no gap in licensing.
Can Sangfor run alongside Microsoft 365 and Azure?
Yes. Many clients keep production servers on Sangfor HCI, either on site or on our Sangfor-based private cloud, and use Microsoft 365 and Azure for mail, identity and cloud services. We are also a Microsoft Solutions Partner, so both sides are run by one team.
Where will our data be hosted?
On your own Sangfor HCI cluster on site, or on Missan’s Sangfor-based private cloud in the UAE. We confirm in writing where each workload sits before anything moves.
How is a Sangfor project priced?
A fixed quote for the hardware nodes, the Sangfor licences for the term you choose and the installation and migration labour. Ongoing support can be added as a monthly line or included in an AMC.
Do you support Sangfor kit another company installed?
Yes. We start with a health check of the cluster or firewall, back up the configuration, confirm licence status and who holds the admin accounts, and then take over support.
