The challenge

A clinical laboratory group's Sharjah site.

The laboratory's PBX could only output call records through a serial port, and the client needed those records on its own system across the LAN, along with a new call-reporting device set up.

What we delivered

Missan engineers:

  • Connected the PBX over RS-232 to a serial device server
  • Connected the device server to the network switch and configured it on the LAN
  • Verified SMDR call records arriving at the client's system
  • Connected the new call-reporting device and gave its vendor remote access to set up email reports

The outcome

Call records were confirmed flowing from the PBX to the client's system, and the completion report was signed in April 2025.

Why it mattered: Call data that was trapped on a serial port is now available on the network for reporting, using the existing PBX.
