Case study · Servers and identity
A domain controller and security policies for a clinical laboratory.
A clinical laboratory and health-services group needed central sign-in, role-based access and policy control over its PCs and shared data. Missan built it from the server up.

The challenge
A clinical laboratory and health-services group (Sharjah).
A clinical laboratory and health-services group in the UAE had no central directory controlling who could sign in, what they could reach and what they could install.
It needed a domain controller with security policies that suit a laboratory handling patient samples and results, and its QNAP storage brought under the same control.
What we delivered
Missan built the server and directory, and wrote the policies with the client:
- Server installed and configured, BIOS optimised, and disks set in RAID 5 for redundancy and performance
- Active Directory configured, with organisational units and user groups created to the client's structure
- DNS configured with forward and reverse lookup zones
- Group policies for password complexity, account lockout, least-privilege access, folder-level permissions, audit logging, software installation control and blocking of unauthorised USB storage
- Departmental groups and permissions created for administrators, management, helpdesk, finance, HR and other departments
- QNAP storage integrated with the domain controller for central management
Missan then trained the client's team on managing Active Directory and group policies, monitoring logs, managing the QNAP integration and maintaining the security settings.
The outcome
The configured server was handed over with training on the same day, and the client signed the completion report in February 2025.
Two months later Missan completed a second project for the same group: PBX call-record connectivity at its Sharjah site.
The business case
One directory now decides who can sign in, which department folders they see and what they can install, with logins and admin changes logged. That is the base a laboratory needs before it can prove who accessed what.
