IT for accounting and audit firms

IT for accounting and audit firms: client files, e-invoicing and email you can defend to a client.

An accounting firm holds the ledgers, bank statements and payroll of every client it serves. We moved a UAE professional-services firm from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 without disruption, and Indemnity Insurance Brokers runs on the server and storage we installed. 4.6★ from 200+ Google reviews.

The problems we see

The IT problems firms bring to us.

Clients hand you their financial records. More of them now ask how you protect them.

Every client folder open to everyone
One shared drive where every member of staff can open every client's ledgers and payroll.
Fake payment-change emails
Spoofed client or supplier emails asking to change bank details, aimed at the people who move money.
Busy season
Year-end and VAT deadlines when a slow laptop or a locked account costs billable hours.
E-invoicing questions
Clients asking whether their accounting system is ready for UAE e-invoicing, and the firm's own system too.
Working papers that must last
Engagement letters, working papers and signed reports that must stay findable and unaltered for years.
Audit staff at client sites
Laptops at client premises and on client networks, with files synced to personal devices.

Which of our services fit

What we run for a firm.

  • Microsoft 365 with per-client folder permissions, MFA and Intune on every device
  • Email security, SPF, DKIM and DMARC, so payment-change emails can be trusted
  • Document archiving with windream, so working papers stay indexed and unaltered
  • An e-invoicing readiness check for your own system, and a referral path for clients
  • Backups of client files and accounting data, checked daily and restored on a schedule
  • Helpdesk and onsite support under managed IT or an AMC

How it starts

From a review to steady running.

  1. 1

Review of files, email and devices

We map who can open which client folder, check email settings and list every laptop that leaves the office.

  2. 2

    Fixed quote and plan

A fixed quote with changes ranked by risk, starting with MFA, permissions and backups.

  3. 3

    Changes outside busy season

Migrations and permission changes timed away from year-end and VAT deadlines, with a way back at each step.

  4. 4

    Onboarding and monthly reporting

Onboarding usually takes about 30 days. After that you get support at the hours agreed in the contract and a monthly report.

Questions

What accounting and audit partners ask us.

Can you stop staff opening client folders they do not work on?

Yes. We move client files into SharePoint or a file server with permissions by client or engagement team, and log who opened what. Partners keep the access they need.

Which data protection law applies to our firm?

Most UAE mainland and free-zone firms fall under the UAE PDPL, Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021. Firms in DIFC fall under the DIFC Data Protection Law, DIFC Law No. 5 of 2020. Your legal adviser confirms which applies; we set up the access control, logging and backups to support it.

Can you help with UAE e-invoicing?

We check your accounting system and document storage against the e-invoicing timeline. For document retention, windream keeps invoices and working papers indexed and archived so they cannot be altered.

Our clients and regulators send security questionnaires. Can you help?

Yes. We set up the controls they ask about, MFA, backups, access control and endpoint protection, and give you the factual answers to put in the questionnaire.

Do you support firms with offices outside the UAE?

Engineers go onsite anywhere in the UAE. Offices in the US, UK, India, Uzbekistan and the wider Middle East are supported remotely, with local hands arranged for physical work.

What happens if we leave?

Your Microsoft 365 tenant, domain and admin accounts stay in your firm's name, and the documentation we write is yours. We hand everything over in writing.
