IT budget calculator: your budget by category
The short answer: an IT budget is devices, licences, support, security and backup, each driven by your users, sites and servers. Enter those below and see a year-one and ongoing figure for each category, using example assumptions you can change.
Your organisation
Assumptions: example figures (edit any of them)
These are example figures, not Missan prices. They are round placeholders so the maths has something to work with, not a quote and not a market benchmark. Replace each one with a figure from a quote, an invoice or your own records.

What goes into each category.
- Devices = users × device price, servers × server price and sites × network kit, each divided by the years you keep it. A new setup pays the full purchase in year one. See IT hardware procurement.
- Licences = users × per-user monthly licence × 12, plus servers × per-server licence. Check current Microsoft list prices on Microsoft 365 prices in AED and right-size with the licence optimiser.
- Support = per-user and per-server monthly support × 12, plus site visits. Compare in-house and outsourced with the in-house vs managed IT cost calculator, or see managed IT services.
- Security = per-user monthly security × 12, plus firewall subscriptions per site. See managed cybersecurity and the cyber-readiness score.
- Backup = per-user and per-server monthly backup × 12. Size the storage with the backup storage calculator, or see backup and disaster recovery.

Common questions
About the calculator.
Are the unit costs in this calculator Missan prices?
No. Every unit cost is an example figure so the maths has something to work with. They are not Missan prices and not a market benchmark. Replace each one with a figure from a quote, an invoice or your own records.
What does the IT budget include?
Five categories: devices (laptops or desktops, servers and network kit per site), licences (per user and per server), support (per user, per server and per site), security (per user and per site) and backup (per user and per server). You can set any line to zero if it does not apply.
Why are year one and ongoing different?
If you are setting up from scratch, year one includes buying every device. If you already have equipment, devices are spread over their refresh cycle, so year one and later years look the same.
Is anything I type sent to Missan?
No. The calculation runs in your browser. Nothing is sent unless you fill in the optional form and press send, in which case your inputs and totals are attached so you do not have to retype them.
How do I get a real budget for my organisation?
Send the optional form and we will go through your figures with you on a short call. For on-site work, fixed quotes follow a site survey.
